Just how historic and awesome was the New Orleans Saints’ first NFC championship? It not only toppled what could be the final chapter of legendary quarterback Brett Favre’s NFL history, but it also toppled one of the most epic and legendary final chapters in television’s history.

Last Sunday’s squeaker between the Saints and the Minnesota Vikings on Fox garnered 57.9 million viewers, which tops the Seinfeld finale in 1998.
One can only imagine what the viewership would be if the Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts and take home the Vince Lombardi trophy at Super Bowl XLIV. I mean, other than a special post-game appearance of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (I say that, of course, as a long time and beloved hometown fan of the Black and Gold. Who dat!).

An actor who played a recurring character on ”Seinfeld” gave a pep-talk to Villanova business students.
(Excerpt from Seinfeld):
(Elaine): “Mr. Peterman, how are you feeling?”
(Peterman): “Elaine, I’ll be blunt. I’m burnt out, I’m fried. My mind is a barren as the surface of the moon.”
John O’Hurley (photo), J. Peterman of Seinfeld fame, host of Family Feud, Dancing with the Stars winner, addressed the inaugural presentation by the Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship Center. He prescribed accomplishment, balance and meaning as the cure for the ordinary life:
“I wanted to have an extraordinary life. I don’t think any of us have woken up todaysaying I want to have an ordinary life. I want to swing from the middle run run of the ladder of life, just like George Costanza.”
O’Hurley advised daydreaming as a way to connect with your own unique ideas.
More than a decade after saying goodbye to fans of the show, the cast of “Seinfeld” got together for the promotional picture of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”. Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Richards and Jason Alexander together with “Curb” star Larry David are all standing near the familiar door.

As previously reported, the four main characters of “Seinfeld” are reuniting for an episode of the HBO series. They appear in the third episode which airs on October 4. Larry’s manager tries to convince him to organize a reunion but true to his nature, Larry rejects. Only after realizing that he can win back Cheryl’s heart by arranging the reunion does Larry agree to do it.
The cast of “Seinfeld” also appeared on the cover of Entertainment Weekly. In the inside story, Jerry expressed his glee in working with Larry, saying “The idea of working with Larry was just too overwhelmingly appealing to me, and ['Curb'] is such a great show. There was a little part of me that said, ‘Do we really want to tamper?’ …But to hell with it. How much damage can you really do?”
On the other side, Jason spilled an on-set story. He said, “Just before we shot that scene, I said to Jerry and Julia, ‘I don’t know if I can be George. I haven’t tried him on for awhile’. And it was freaky how it just came right back out.”
“Curb Your Enthusiasm” premieres September 20.
Larry David – co-creator of “Seinfeld” — has convinced the four stars of that classic Emmy-winning sitcom to reunite for a multiepisode arc on the upcoming season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” As David explained at a TCA presser yesterday, “For years, I’ve been asked about a ‘Seinfeld’ reunion. We’ll see the read-through, parts of rehearsals, the show being filmed.”
Jerry Seinfeld is set to appear in five episodes of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” while the other “Seinfeld” cast members — Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards — slated to appear in four installments.
And as per David, “The season finale will be about the reunion show. It could very well be [a one-hour episode], but I haven’t finished editing it yet. But that’s a good possibility.”
Seinfeld had a cameo in the Season 4 finale of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” And both Alexander and Louis-Dreyfus appeared as versions of themselves in the second season as the show explored the so-called “Seinfeld” curse.
While Emmy rules dictate that “cameo appearances in which the person plays himself/herself are not eligible for entry” — such as Seinfeld’s earlier unbilled appearance on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” — these upcoming multi-episode stints will surely qualify.
Playing variations of themselves on the two seasons of “Extras” earned a quartet of stars — Ian McKellen, Ben Stiller, Patrick Stewart, and Kate Winslet – guest acting Emmy nods. And Emma Thompson won for guest actress in a comedy series back in 1998 when she played herself on “Ellen” — the twist there was that she was really an American only pretending to be British.
Perhaps Alexander can finally win an Emmy to go along with his 1989 lead actor Tony Award for “Jerome Robbin’s Broadway.” He lost seven successive Emmy bids for best supporting actor (1992-1998) for his work on “Seinfeld.”
Three of those defeats were to co-star Richards. This will be the first acting gig for Richards since his infamous meltdown at a comedy club three years ago. Richards was the big Emmy winner for “Seinfeld,” winning three of his five supporting actor bids (1993, 1994, 1997).
Louis-Dreyfus won on the fifth of her seven consecutive supporting actress Emmy nominations for “Seinfeld” in 1996. A decade later she won the lead actress Emmy for the first season of “The New Adventures of Old Christine.” She has contended in that category every year since, including this current derby.
Seinfeld lost five consecutive lead actor races (1992-1996) for “Seinfeld.” His only Emmy for “Seinfeld” came as a producer when the show won best comedy series in 1993. David shared in that win and picked up another Emmy that year for scripting the classic episode “The Contest.”
The top-rated sitcom took home only 10 Emmys over its nine-year run, despite racking up 68 nominations. “Frasier” eclipsed “Seinfeld” at the Emmys time and again, winning 37 trophies, including a record five in a row as best comedy series.
“Curb Your Enthusiasm” has only one Emmy to show for 30 nominations — a 2003 directing win for Robert B. Weide. The show has contended five times for best comedy series while David has lost three lead actor races. The seventh season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” kicks off Sept. 20.

Stand-up comic and former Seinfeld writer Pat Hazell will star in his one-man show, The Wonder Bread Years, to be presented by Penguin Rep Theatre in Stony Point, New York, June 26-July 19.
The show serves up slices of Americana, with memories of flipping Slinkys down the stairs, chasing ice cream trucks, Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots, milk money, and road trips in the back seat of the family station wagon.
There will be an opening reception with the performer and production team following the June 28 matinee, and a post-show discussion following the July 3 performance.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus is ready to revive the hit 1990s sitcom for the big screen – after reuniting with her former cast mates for guest spots on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Seinfeld fans will get a teaser when Louis-Dreyfus and her former TV co-stars Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards appear together in a number of shows for the upcoming season of Larry David’s comedy series. Returning to the set with her former colleagues brought back fond memories for the actress, 11 years after Seinfeld came to an end in 1998 following a nine-season run. She tells People.com, “It was wonderful. It was like we never left to be honest with you – so that part of it was quite surreal.”
Louis-Dreyfus admits she is eager to reprise her role as Elaine, one of Seinfeld’s zany sidekicks, in a movie adaptation of the show – and she’s already got some big plans for her character. She tells reporters, “You get the financing together and I’ll work on the script… I would say she’d just be getting out of prison.”

American TV comedy series Seinfeld
will soon be turned into a porn parody by an adult film studio.
X-rated filmmaker Lee Roy Myers is currently filming Seinfeld: A XXX Parody!, reports a website.
He said the cast for the porn film is top-notch.
“It makes my job look easy when I get to work with an amazingly talented group who can pull off the hot sex and comedic acting. It just doesn’t get better than that,” Myers said.
For college students who may not know much about that renowned NBC sitcom about nothing, Sony Pictures Television is bringing the “Seinfeld†to campuses around the country in a tour intended to spark interest in the widely syndicated series.
The interior of the tour bus, which arrives in New York City’s Union Square on Thursday, comprises a mini-museum of Seinfeld memorabilia, including props from the series such as the doll that bore an unsettling resemblance to the George Costanza character’s mother, the “man-zier†created by Kramer and George’s father and the Superman figure from Jerry Seinfeld’s book shelf. An Emmy Award the show earned is also on display, along with characters’ costumes.
The rear interior of the bus replicates part of Monk’s Diner, where the characters frequently convened in scenes from the series, where they can sample frozen yogurt from Kramer’s Yogurt Kounter. They can also relax on a red leather sofa and watch mounted plasma TVs showing “Seinfeld†clips and interviews with cast members.
The objective of the 30-city tour is to bring members of the millennial generation into the “Seinfeld†tent – or reinforce their viewing interest if they’re already there.
“It’s really about these millennials,†said Gary Kleinman, president of Yardstick Partners, which conceived and executed the bus tour for Sony’s TV unit. “It gives them an opportunity to enjoy the show as the generations before them as well.â€
Visitors can win prizes, including digital cameras, and branded T-shirts and key chains by playing a “Seinfeld†trivia game and a “Marine Biologist Hole-in-One†putting game, aiming at a whale’s blow-hole.
The tour bus, its companion branded tents and three interactive laptop kiosks covers a 1,700-foot display. The target audience will be students at nearby New York University, who figure to be more well-informed than most of their peers about the New York-centric comedy.
Under on of those tents, visitors can record their impressions of characters from the series for projection on a plasma screen. They can also pose for pictures with cutouts of the “Seinfeld†cast and retrieve the shots on a website set up for that purpose.
Three interactive laptop kiosks also offer visitors a chance to check out content on “Seinfeld†MySpace, Facebook and the “Seinfeldâ€Â Web site.
Yardstick is employing campus “ambassadors†who are helping to build awareness of the tour by deploying door hangers and posters.
The tour is expected to run through November, but Kleinman reports that his company keeps fielding requests for additional stops as the bus moves on.
“People can’t get enough of ‘Seinfeld’ and the something about nothing that it is,†he said.
George Costanza is no longer Jason Alexander’s only alter ego. He has created a comic motivational speaker named Donny Clay, who performs at corporate retreats.
Alexander said that performing as Donny Clay is a dream job for him.The former “Seinfeld” star told AP Radio he takes the jobs he wants, turns down the ones he doesn’t and the corporations pick up his travel expenses.
